As part of UG’s vision to become a world-class research-intensive institution, the University of Ghana has identified four priority areas where it will focus and promote international collaboration in research initiatives to enhance the University's research output. These areas are:

The Office for Research, Innovation and Development (ORID) began operating in the 2010/2011 academic year and has the specific responsibility of:

  • Developing and implementing the University's research policy
  • Fund-raising for research
  • Ensuring effective distribution and efficient use of research funds in line with priority areas identified in the University's strategic plan
  • Setting standards and ensuring effective dissemination of high-quality research output.
  • Representing the interests of the University in contractual relationships, grant applications and reporting administering contract research
  • Establishing systems for ethical clearance
  • Registration, patenting and commercialisation of intellectual property

UG Research Report

This is a yearly research report compiled by The Office of Research, Innovation and Development(ORID) emphasizing some key research projects UG conducted in fueling Innovation, and Inspiring Solutions for National and Global Progress
